Role Overview & Responsibilities

Our client is currently expanding their team with a Materials Research Technician that will be based in Oxford, England. The company is a very exciting start-up business which is growing at a fast pace focusing on pushing forward the additive manufacturing industry in a variety of industries from aerospace, automotive, medical etc. Expected responsibilities will include producing, processing, testing and characterising alloy samples and parts in close cooperation with external teams and ensuring all projects are carried out on schedule.


Further responsibilities:



  • Operating and maintaining of laboratory equipment.
  • Cooperating and communicating with engineers in order to understand requirements, scheduling and performing work accordingly.
  • Supporting the overall development of work procedures.
  • Participating in the development of the company’s in-house capabilities.
  • Maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of equipment.
  • Participating in improvement in the laboratory; optimising procedures, ongoing learning and training.



Requirements



  • Qualifications in Materials science or engineering or a comparable discipline.
  • Laboratory experiences within an R&D or production facility environment.
  • Experiences within Metallography.
  • Experience with Alloy production.
  • Experiences in Mechanical testing.
  • Knowledge or experience of Metal Additive Manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Previous knowledge and understanding of alloy chemical analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a collaborative team.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
