Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Overseas Engagement and Recruitment Officer will be responsible for the onboarding and integration of skilled colleagues who are provided transition accommodation and additional welfare support to support their relocation to work at ABP Ellesmere and ABP Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

This role will be a friendly face who will coach and mentor new colleagues and will assist with familiarization arrangements such as local area tours and visits. This role will also help new arrivals settle into accommodation, transport and making other practical arrangements such as setting up bank accounts and staying connected with families overseas. The role will maintain regular if not daily contact with all relevant colleagues to ensure their continued success and belonging at ABP.

This role will signpost colleagues to resources in the community such as social and medical services and will also ensure that colleagues are connected to their departments to allow them to be involved in site engagement activities. The role will also help build new relationships within the community to benefit the colleagues integration to the region.

  • Responsible for day to day running of the new starter and induction integration process
  • Managing and communicating intake planning working in partnership with their employing department
  • Accountable for all Modern Slavery and Welfare checks for new starters
  • Working closely with the training department to to coordinate and facilitate ongoing training needs and assessment
  • To meet and greet overseas workers at the airport and relocate to company accommodation; manage covid testing; order and deliver clothing, sim cards, food and other supplies as required especially when in self-isolation
  • To be the main point of contact (including, occasionally, outside of office hours) for any issues or complaints relating the accommodation or tenants, reporting H&S and maintenance issues, and ensuring all accommodation equipment and structures are maintained and kept to the desired standard
  • To work with service providers to ensure healthy and beneficial relationships are maintained.
  • To carry out weekly checks of all company accommodation, addressing any immediate concerns and escalating any larger issues to the relevant departments.
  • To carry out monthly checks to empower and support employees to collect their Bio residency permit card, register with GP services and setting up bank accounts.
Ensure tenancy agreements and investment agreements are issued to all employees and deductions are communicated to payroll.
  • To be supportive to the welfare of all tenants and maintain links to external partners/departments to be able to signpost tenants as necessary
  • To promote and support colleagues with the 'refer a friend' process at ABP and ensure referrals are handled promptly in accordance with the Refer a Friend Policy.
  • To identity and explore any overseas workstream opportunities(recruitment, accommodation & travel) to the Site Operations Manager and appropriate department manager.
  • Ensure all onboarding documentation is completed. To ensure and audit line managers to ensure all on boarding checks are carried out.
  • Experience within a busy human resource administration office
  • An understanding of the full end to end employee onboarding process
  • Proven track record working in a high volume/fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of recruitment compliance and modern slavery welfare checks
  • Experience in data reporting and analysis
  • Experience in working partnership with different departments and internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence others
  • Ability to prioritise work by taking the impact and scale of the work into consideration, as well as manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • A willingness to get your hands dirty
  • Sound IT skills including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
