Role Overview & Responsibilities

Reports to Risk Manager

The purpose of this role is to be part of the group-wide Risk Team for the Aztec Group and its affiliated entities, taking responsibility for day to day risk management tasks, supporting Jurisdictional-specific workstreams as well as contributing to development of the function and our approach.

We're looking for a self-motivated and driven individual who is looking to gain experience of Operational Risk within a financial services environment who has an interest in progressing their career with us, and who is looking for an exciting and broad role within an established and evolving team.

The role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop themselves within the business, undertake training and qualification in Risk, develop their understanding of the application of risk methodology as well as into how risk is deployed within a Fund Administration business.

Key responsibilities:

Risk Identification and Assessment

  • Supporting the analysis and reporting of operational incidents to ensure they are accurately captured, investigated (root cause analysis) and where appropriate, corrective action taken
  • Supporting trend analysis of operational incidents across Aztec and deep-dive investigations into material issues
  • Involvement in ad-hoc controls testing and risk assessments to analyse the effectiveness of the control framework and where required, recommending enhancements to the control framework
  • Supporting action tracking and completion with Senior Stakeholders as well as improvement to risk culture
  • Collaborate with business units to understand their drivers, concerns, and key risks

New Business Assessment

  • Undertake analysis of new business applications from the business to identify, document and ensure management of the associated risks and to ensure that these remain within our Risk Appetite and are aligned to Group and Product strategy.
  • Supporting action tracking and completion with key Stakeholders

Risk Framework and Administration

  • Support the Team in evolution of the risk framework, policies and reporting mechanisms through continuous improvement and embracing change
  • Support jurisdictional internal and external risk monitoring and reporting process in conjunction with the Risk Manager (including collation of Key Risk Indicators)
  • Take part in specific risk workstreams to enable delivery of the Risk Plan – being involved from design to completion
  • Supporting risk reporting to Aztec Forums including the Risk and Controls Forum, Group Risk and Audit Committee and Jurisdictional Boards
  • Oversee Risk Management mailbox ensuring that tasks and queries are managed through to completion by liaison with the wider Team and specialist functions

Skills, knowledge, expertise

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and relationship driven approach are an essential requirement to develop close working relationships with colleagues and business contacts
  • Self-motivated and capable of prioritising and organising tasks
  • Ability to take ownership, be accountable for delivery targets and to demonstrate initiative
  • Analytical approach with good research skills and mind for problem solving / alternative solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality standards
  • Strong computer literacy skills are essential with working knowledge of Microsoft products, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel. An aptitude for analytics would be an advantage
  • Fluent in Business level English both written and spoken
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Desire to develop a career in Risk Management and an interest in Fund Services
  • Travel to other Aztec jurisdictions may be required as part of this role

You will need to be quick to learn new systems and great with people, as close working relationships between our colleagues and clients is at the heart of what we do.
