Role Overview & Responsibilities

Quality Controller

£10.10 Hourly

Shift pattern: 06.30 am • 15.30 pm

Our client is a is a specialist processor of wild Scottish shellfish and the largest independent shellfish processor in the UK. Our client processes more wild shellfish than anyone else in Europe.

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Controller on a temporary ongoing basis.

The role of a Quality Controller is to help maintain the food safety, quality and legality of the product being produced, ensuring adherence to established quality standards.


As a Quality Controller, your duties will include:


  • Responsible for monitoring critical control points (CCP), food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process;
  • Ensure the correct specification for products are met during processing;
  • Responsible for collecting product samples for microbiology, and chemistry testing;
  • Record and action non conformance and corrective actions;
  • Investigate and highlight non•conformance's to the QC Team Leader or Supervisor;
  • Keep measurement equipment operating, by following operating instructions, weekly calibration and calling for repairs;
  • Complete scheduled audits including GMP, Glass and hard plastics and walk away standards;
  • Complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Typical Working Week Monday – Friday with occasional weekend work + overtime rates
