We are a small independent punting operator on the River Cam, we offer guided river tours on large punts to visitors and locals.
Job description
Here at the Cambridge Punt Company we are looking for confident and athletically inclined individuals to join our team for the upcoming punting season. These are sought after positions and we only have a few available. Individuals will be required to physically punt boats along the 1 mile stretch of the river Cam whilst giving a detailed historical tour (provided) of the colleges and bridges passed along the route, along with interesting anecdotes about past alumni and facts about Cambridge itself (also provided). We will give full training to make sure you can physically manoeuvre the punt and we also provide the historical tour.
It is best if you are of a sporty nature as some strength and stamina is required.
We provide uniform and flexible schedules, although weekend availability is required. (Not necessarily every weekend - but during the summer months it is essential you can give us 60% weekend attendance at least).
The work environment on the river Cam is fun and full of camaraderie with members of the team becoming life long friends more often than not. Working outside is a gift most members of staff are very appreciative of.
We do expect good standards of personal hygiene and a smart appearance as the role is customer facing. You should be confident to talk to strangers, as you have one hour with each group of customers - staff can make double their wages in tips if they approach the job correctly and convey themselves well and have a good knowledge of Cambridge, the town and University.
