Sci-Tech delivers quality microbiological and serological testing services to the veterinary diagnostic sector and associated businesses throughout the livestock sector. Our UKAS accredited services, performed by our highly skilled teams, cover all aspects of poultry, porcine and gamebird production, including bird production, routine hatchery, and hygiene monitoring. We work closely with vets and farmers to develop new analytical solutions to meet market changes and according to individual requirements, ensuring services are confidential, accurate, and timely. Sci-Tech Ireland are currently recruiting a Junior Laboratory Technician to join our busy team.

We are a commercial diagnostic laboratory based in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, specialising in poultry/porcine testing.

Job Duties:

· Logging of samples on arrival to LIMS database and preparation for samples for testing.

· Carry out testing of Poultry and Porcine blood samples to ISO17025 standards by various methods

· Testing of water samples

· Preparation and testing of PCR Samples

· Preparation of reagents as required

· Input of data onto spreadsheet

· Maintenance of general hygiene and housekeeping in accordance with laboratory COHH and risk assessment

Essential skills

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:

· Ability to work as part of a team

· A flexible approach to work including hours

· Reliable, punctual and well organised

· Previous laboratory experience and knowledge of Quality Procedures would be an advantage.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9-12 months

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Dungannon: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
