CBS delivers integrated energy solutions that balance profitability and sustainability: by bringing together the right combination of technologies and approaches to help organisations get the most from their energy, drive the most value from their energy infrastructure and help support their pathway to Net Zero.

In order to help with the continued success of CBS, we’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our fantastic Legal team! As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be a key part of a small, dedicated business partner legal team acting as the day-to-day legal point of contact to CBS UK&I Solutions. You’ll also advise on construction, general corporate and commercial legal matters in the UK and other CBS European jurisdictions (engaging with local legal counsel where needed).

Location: Mixture of home based and Windsor working. Some occasional international travel may be required.

About the Role:

  • Negotiate and draft EPC agreements, equipment supply agreements, power purchase agreements; subcontractor agreements, long term services agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, energy performance contracts and other related documents

  • Assist with all aspects of project management and project execution and provide strategic and business-oriented advice

  • Manage disputes and litigation

  • Coordinate and supervise outside counsel with a view to balancing legal costs with business goals

  • Liaise with senior business and functional stakeholders as required

About You:

  • Professionally Qualified lawyer of high calibre with practicing certificate in England and Wales (or equivalent) with ideally 4 – 6 years of relevant experience

  • Experience of drafting contracts and negotiating commercial agreements with a range of complexity and with a particular focus on distributed energy solutions (including CHP, solar and battery experience), new energy services products, optimisation services and propositions in the UK and internationally

  • Experience of a broad range of subject areas mainly focussed on construction (JCT, NEC and FIDIC) and commercial agreements (EPC contracts, PPAs, O&M and procurement agreements)

  • Highly strategic legal outlook and commercially savvy lawyer with experience of delivering successfully in a challenging, fast paced environment

  • Experience of acting as a successful business partner in a dynamic business environment

  • Experience of drafting contracts and negotiating high value commercial agreements with a range of complexity

  • Demonstrable ability to assess risk and deliver advice in a pragmatic manner, taking into account the wider and regulatory framework and commercial drivers.

  • Able to be a trusted business partner who is sought out for their input

  • Excellent influencing skills and an ability to deliver impact

  • Confidence in managing stakeholders at a range of different levels across multiple jurisdictions/cultures

We are dedicated in helping to close the diversity gap and would love to see more females, people of colour and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as those from a variety of cultures and ethnicity to veterans and the differently abled.
