Description
SUMMARY:
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing innovative, engaging and effective products and services that meet the needs of our targeted audience. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and content matter experts to conceptualize, design, and develop products from ideation to launch. The Designer will employ user-centered design principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and translate complex ideas into intuitive and visually appealing designs.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to identify needs and objectives for our new services and products. Collaborate with other stakeholders to define product requirements and specifications. Conduct user research, user testing, and gather feedback to inform product design decisions. Iterate on designs based on feedback and user testing results to continuously improve the user experience. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in product design and user experience design. Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to stakeholders and team members. Design and develop high-quality instructional materials, including booklets, games, paper products, online courses, e-learning modules, videos, presentations, job aids, etc... Utilize instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), to create learner-centered content that aligns with learning objectives and outcomes. Employ multimedia and interactive elements to enhance the effectiveness and engagement of products and services. Conduct thorough needs assessments and audience analysis to ensure the relevance and applicability of content. Apply adult learning theories and instructional strategies to create impactful learning experiences for diverse audiences. Implement best practices in instructional design, including accessibility standards and principles of universal design for learning (UDL). Collaborate with graphic designers, multimedia specialists, and other team members to produce visually appealing and interactive learning materials. Evaluate the effectiveness of products and services through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in instructional design and e-learning to enhance the quality and effectiveness of training initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 5 or more years of proven experience in instructional design, preferably in developing materials for services and products organizations. 3 or more years of experience in a K-12 system preferred. Proficiency in instructional design software/tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and learning management systems (LMS). Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements related to product and service development is desirable. Portfolio showcasing examples of instructional design projects and learning materials is highly recommended.

Forward thinking ability to identify areas for improvement and take decisive and timely action to bring about desired change. Possess an understanding of change theory. Demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior. Consensus-building and mediation skills in order to constructively address internal and external client conflicts.
Work Environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work in a professional and flexible office environment, with or without visual and audible distractions. Ability to work in multiple settings, including varied agency, school or work-related sites or a home office environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-town travel.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to effectively communicate in person, via phone and in writing. The employee is required to drive between schools and districts to provide direct service and consultation. The employee may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
