Key responsibilities and main duties
ROLE
We have a fantastic opportunities for enthusiastic Freelance Copywriters to join our team. As a member of our Freelance writing team you will be responsible for developing various content but initial focus will be to create consumer focussed cost guides for our blog. Our ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for writing, impressive attention to detail, and will be highly motivated and self-sufficient.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Freelance writer you be briefed and tasked with creation of SEO optimised content. Briefs will be detailed with structure, target key words, accurate prices and technical direction provided on scope of guide.
Outline tasks:
- Primary task is to create Cost Guides for our blog – average article is 1300 words although longer form guides may be required up to 3500 – 4000 words. Examples https://www.checkatrade.com/blog/homeowner/fireplace/log-burner-cost-guide/ and https://www.checkatrade.com/blog/cost-guides/skip-hire-prices/
- Target will be initially 4 Cost Guides a month
- Secondary additional content writing as required focused on Trade Acquisition:
- Business to business direct response marketing approach with the intent of driving inbound calls & traffic to the website.
- Heavy benefit led copy with clear call to actions and engaging content which reflects Checkatrade brand guidelines/tone of voice.
- Aspirational wording to communicate Checkatrade brand/company strengths in a positive, trustworthy, human & energetic tone.
- Techniques to be used such as: element of surprise, sense of urgency, time limited offer, promotion offering, fear of missing out.
Characteristics to make the role successful
- Attention to detail to accurately achieve brief objectives
- Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, including SEO, email marketing and web analytics
- Excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
- The ability to consistently meet tight deadlines
Qualifications
- Experience of copywriting
- Additional benefit if you have previously written about home renovation, maintenance or repair, construction approaches or have experience in writing that appeals to tradespeople.
