Role Overview & Specifications

Position Summary:In charge of overseeing and training drivers at the Operating Company (OpCo), ensuring that deliveries are conducted safely, efficiently, and punctually. Assists in monitoring Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, ensuring drivers adhere to all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinates the management of pertinent driver information. Collaborates as a team member within the department and organization, fulfilling any assigned tasks to effectively serve the company's objectives.
ResponsibilitiesSupervises associates, covering staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and issue resolution. Also assists in scheduling and ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. Participates in driver training and evaluation by riding along.Supports Transportation/Operations Manager in the day-to-day management of transportation and delivery operations. This may involve tasks like calculating driver payroll, reviewing trip logs and expense reports, problem-solving, and ensuring DOT and OpCo compliance. Utilizes computer systems for data entry and access.Monitors vehicle safety and ensures drivers adhere to safety protocols regarding equipment usage and product handling. May attend safety meetings regularly.Coordinates the tracking of driver-related information, including license status, traffic violations, accidents, and other safety-related data.Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver paperwork, such as invoices, cash receipts, trip reports, and regulatory logs.Maintains truck, tractor, and trailer maintenance by thoroughly reviewing post-trip inspections.Collaborates with Transportation or Operations Manager to optimize routing and minimize operating expenses.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.2-4 years of transportation or related experience, including familiarity with DOT and safety regulations, and proficiency in operating computerized fleet management systems. CDL License required.
Preferred Qualifications:Associates/2-year technical degree in Business Management, Logistics, or a related field.4-6 years of transportation experience, including expertise in DOT and safety regulations, and proficiency in computerized fleet management systems within the foodservice industry.Supervisory experience.Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) certification.
