Role Overview & Responsibilities

My client is looking to recruit an experienced Support Worker to join their team to help look after a high functioning young adult with learning difficulties on a 1 to 1 basis.

He has a couple do’s and don’ts when it comes to someone looking after him, we can discuss this in the registration stages.

He has one main care giver that will still help and give support, however he can only do 30hrs the family would like someone who can do extra hours along with the care giver and when he isn’t working.

Shift patterns & rates of pay:

  • 12pm – 6pm
  • Salary: £14.50 per hour

What we offer:

  • Weekly pay.
  • On-call support.
  • Immediate starts (with in-date DBS and training)

The service user has a good sense of humour and likes people who can have a laugh. Sometimes he gets things wrong and may say things that he doesn’t mean. It’s important to him that his team aren't offended by the things he says and move on in a friendly way, rather than telling him off.

Stages of employment:

  • The family and the service user would like the stages to go slow so everyone is happy.
  • Come and meet the service user and the family, spend 2 hours at the house.
  • Come and have one or two shadow days from 12pm – 6pm.
  • Have a review with the client to see how it is all going.
  • Friday morning personal care and medication.
  • Complete 3 full days on their own with the service user.
  • Have a review with the client to what is working well and what they need to practice.

Essentially you will need:

  • 1 years’ experience working within the healthcare sector (essential).
  • Manual handling and Safeguarding training with evidence of certificates (can be provided).
  • Enhanced DBS check (we can process one at a charge of £57).
  • Full UK driver's license and own transport (preferable but not essential).

You will need to be:

  • Committed to providing high quality care and have strong interpersonal skills.
