We are looking for a Freelance Concept artist/Illustrator to work in a production environment creating designs for various gaming projects. We are looking for a strong digital illustrator who can work in a variety of different styles and is forward-thinking. You will work independently and as part of a team and should be comfortable creating original art as well as working with licensed art.
Responsibilities
Digital Paint-overs: Utilize your expertise in digital painting to improve and refine existing digitally composed assets, concept art, character designs, environments, props, and other game assets. Apply your artistic eye to enhance the overall visual appeal, composition, lighting, color, and mood.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with our creative team, including 3D artists, project managers and art directors, to understand project requirements, vision, and artistic direction. Effectively communicate your ideas and suggestions to ensure alignment with the project's visual style and objectives.
Gaming Industry Knowledge: Bring your deep understanding of the gaming industry, including current trends, art styles, and technical requirements.
Adaptability and Iteration: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to feedback and making revisions to your work. Collaborate closely with the team to iterate based on art direction and client feedback.
Timely Delivery: Meet project deadlines and manage your time effectively to deliver high-quality paint-overs within the specified timelines. Coordinate with the team to ensure a smooth workflow and maintain clear communication regarding project status.
Qualifications
- Mastery of traditional art skills including, form language, color theory, environment sketching and design, figure drawing, technical drawing.
- Expert in the use of Photoshop/Painter as well as traditional painting/rendering techniques.
- Extensive portfolio with examples of current, hands-on work, including concept art, production designs, storyboards and other visual images that demonstrate complex artistic goals in simple to follow visual images.
- Works independently and conscientiously with minimal supervision.
- 7+ years of experience in a production environment, film/tv/games.
- Strong understanding of general 3D and game art production techniques. Some understanding of 3D modeling software and using initial mockups or manipulate existing 3D files a plus.
