Creighton University is seeking to hire a Counselor for the Student Counseling Center
The counselor position is a full-time Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) in Student Counseling Services.Provides individual, group, and couples counseling for Creighton students in the context of psychological services.This position is supervised by a Licensed Psychologist or an Independent Mental Health Practitioner.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting intake interviews, provide input into treatment plans or making referrals to the appropriate services. Provides crisis intervention services, case management, and outreach programming to students, as well as consultation services to faculty, staff and referral sources. Maintains appropriate professional documentation of all services within the Student Counseling Services medical record.
Qualifications
Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner Master’s degree in counseling or social work Previous experience working in a college setting or with college-aged students is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Demonstrates knowledge, sensitivity, and ability to work with students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills are required. Ability to interact and work with various campus and community resources and partners. Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to develop and deliver outreach and educational programming to various audiences. Understanding of relevant confidentiality issues.
Multicultural competence and cultural humility is highly valued. Working in Creighton’s Counseling Services requires the ability to conceptualize a broad range of clinical issues from a multicultural and social justice perspective.
