Job Duties
$1,500 Sign-On Bonus to those new to state service with a one year written agreement.
Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Responsibilities
ESH invites applications for the position of HOUSEKEEPER & APPAREL WORKER II (ENVIROMENTAL SERVICES TECH II). Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Director, duties and responsibilities consist of the following:
Provides departmental cleaning. Provides proper disposal of trash and hazardous waste. Provides proper sanitation to the care of waste equipment. This position is responsible for the Housekeeping & Apparel Worker I positions for the care of maintaining the cleanliness of assigned units in all open buildings; enforce departmental policies and procedures; and supports ESH’s vision, mission, and values statements. Supervises approximately 40 personnel. Responsible to maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the areas to meet the standards of CMS and the Joint Commission.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to act in the capacity of essential personnel during emergency/crisis situations.
Have basic knowledge of housekeeping procedures and ability to learn proper techniques
Ability to receive written and/or oral instructions
Must be a ble to work independently and use time wisely
Knowledge of housekeeping equipment
Demonstrate wellness, self-care, and ability to perform heavy lifting and repetitive tasks to include pushing, bending, stooping, standing, & walking in various environmental (extreme humid, hot, or cold) conditions on various surfaces.
Additional Considerations
Experience in Environmental Services in a hospital or institutional setting.

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions may be required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays, and/or overtime as requested, in the event of an emergency.
