Hotel General Assistant, Highlands of Scotland

Role Overview & Responsibilities

We're looking for one more General Assistant to join our award winning,small and friendly hotel team for our 2023 season starting as soon as practical in NW Sutherland, Scotland. Live in accommodation (no charges) is available.

Our small Highland hotel, Eddrachilles, is in the northern Highlands, on the A894 (North Coast 500), about 2.5 miles south of Scourie, 40 miles north of Ullapool.

The role is wide-ranging and involves shifts with a mixture of:

• housekeeping;
• waiting on tables;
• laundry;
• and some KP duties.

Please note, although training will be provided, you need to be able to do all of these tasks to a good standard, it's too small a team for specialists.

The rosters are typically 5 worked days in every 7 and include some early starts (0715). There would be a mixture of split shifts and work through days.

Eddrachilles won a Cesar Award for "Best Hotel in Scotland" last October from the Good Hotel Guide. Our focus is on high standards of guest service, in the words of Cesar Ritz we are: "ladies and gentlemen looking after ladies and gentlemen". You will be busy but not frantic. Eddrachilles Hotel has 10 guest bedrooms . Most guests stay multiple nights and include birdwatchers, hill walkers, and NC500 adventurers as well as returning guests who love spending time in this stunning, remote Highland location.

You will need

• Experience in each of the duties with a good level of competence in most.
• A passion for hospitality and an understanding of good customer service
• Good spoken English
• The right to work in the UK (we'll need to see documents!).
• Teamworking: enthusiasm, sense of humour, self starter, good time keeper
• A love of dogs; we've won awards for our dog friendly service.

We offer:

• £11.90 per hour
• Share of tips
• Rotas typically 40-42 hours per week over 5 days
• Free live-in accommodation (own room, shared bathroom)

• Season contract, April to late October.
