Post title: Employer Support Advisor.

Salary £24,570.00 to £27,027.00 per annum

35 hours per week

5.6 weeks pro rata annual leave

OVERALL PURPOSE

Encompass offers a range of employment services which help people to recruit, manage and organise their own staff.

We specialise in supporting those who have been assessed for community care support and wish to manage their own care via Self-directed Support, by taking a Direct Payment.

Office based in Galashiels, you will provide information and support to individual clients by various mediums including telephone, letter, email and home visits

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • To provide support and advice to clients, regarding Self-directed Support and Direct Payments - referring to individual contracts and outcome focussed support plans provided by Scottish Borders Council.
  • Support people with becoming employers including support with preparing job descriptions, recruitment, employment contracts, rates of pay, health and safety law, training etc.
  • To support clients with rota’s and where possible assist with finding emergency cover.
  • To assist clients in budgeting and maintaining control of the management of their care and funds.
  • Ensure efficient, up to date, accurate recording of correspondence with clients.
  • Liaise with our payroll and administration staff regarding our payroll service
  • To oversee the audit of clients’ direct payment bank accounts.
  • Keeping up to date with Employment Law, Self-directed Support (SDS) legislation and HM Revenue and Customs.
  • To work within the boundaries of the organisations confidentiality policy and comply with our organisation’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure effective communications with clients, colleagues, agencies, local authority and other organisations as required.
  • Work in partnership with Social Work, Health, care providers and voluntary organisations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative and multi-task.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and discreet.
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Committed to empowering disabled people and use the social model of disability.

Essential

  • Good standard of education with minimum standard grade English and Maths.
  • Excellent listening skills, non-judgemental and empathetic
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Must be a ‘people person’ and supportive, with a positive outlook
  • Office skills to include working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, E-mail and internet.
  • Accurate recording and accurate figure work.
  • Must have own transport available for work.
  • PVG membership will be required.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge

  • Good understanding of employment law, HM Revenue and Customs processes and payroll.
  • Understanding of community care issues and Self Directed Support
  • Experience of working with people who have community care needs and an understanding of disability issues.

There may be additional hours for project work, events or to cover other staff members; these would be arranged by mutual agreement.
