Architectural Assistant
Job type: Part time (2 Days/Week)
Maplin Studio is an architectural arm of Maplin Engineering that provides state-of-art concept, planning, design, structure engineering, multidisciplinary consulting, project management, and construction management services to clients in the UK domestic and commercial sector.
Key Requirements:
- Must have 2 years of experience
- A bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in architectural studies
Task and Responsibilities:
The Architectural Assistant shall be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Communicating with clients and contractors to ensure that all parties are on the same page throughout the project
- Taking measurements and creating drawings of existing structures and spaces
- Creating computer models of designs by inputting data into 3D modeling software programs
- Drafting initial building plans that include floor plans, elevations, and sections
- Making calculations for building materials based on design requirements and available budgets
- Organizing files and documents related to the project including blueprints, contracts, design drawings, and specifications
- Preparing detailed sketches of proposed designs to present to clients
- Suggesting changes to designs based on client feedback or procedural requirements such as building codes
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification is recommended, but a proven background in building sector is preferable.
- Must have 2 years of proven experience as an Architect
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketch Up, 3-D programs and other modeling software.
- Knowledge of building surveying, current planning and UK building regulations.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Ability to work a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent time management and presentation skills.
