The staff scientist will work with our project managers to conduct field work and prepare deliverables for numerous projects involving environmental remediation services in New Jersey, throughout the Mid-Atlantic area, and across the country.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a key member of the Montrose team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

Work effectively, both independently and collaboratively with peers, seniors and our clients to build and strengthen relationshipsBe present and engaged in team and client meetings, and share ideasConduct environmental investigation and remediation field work, including soil, surface water and groundwater samplingOversee subcontractors as part of site characterization activitiesAssist with research and data collection efforts as requested by project managersPlan and procure all necessary equipment for project executionResponsible for the preparation and completion of project deliverablesParticipate in emergency response services including sub-contractor oversight and field samplingBe knowledgeable of regulatory standards in environmental technical areas of responsibilityMaintain confidentiality at all times, both within Montrose and for our clients and affiliatesExercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including completion of all required safety training programsParticipate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team effortsComplete scientific analysis under direct supervisionPerform other duties as assigned

Your Expertise And Skills

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental/Earth Sciences, Geology, Engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university0 to -3 years of environmental related experience including demonstrated progress in consulting (including college work-study and internships)Strong oral and written communication skillsAbility/willingness to travelStrong problem solving and analytical skillsSolid organization and time management skillsProficient with Microsoft Office SoftwarePrior environmental consulting experience with industrial, commercial, municipal, and federal clientele is a plus40-Hr OSHA HAZWOPER Training is a plusMust be able to successfully complete a medical exam designed to evaluate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position (e.g. bending, kneeling, standing, confined space entry, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 30 pounds) with or without reasonable accommodationMust be able to wear a respiratorMust have a valid driver’s license
