Role Overview

The primary purpose of the role is to support the organisation's information security operations and provide computer network defence support to protect Sperry Marine's computing infrastructure from sophisticated threats. The main CSOC elements are monitoring, threat response and forensic investigation.

As a Junior Cyber Security Analyst, you will be working with and learning about networks, infrastructure, applications and security and applying this knowledge using the company's dedicated monitoring technologies to identify threat actors who have breached the network and any vulnerabilities that could be breached in the future. Often there is a need for malware, packet statistical and data analysis.

Daily, provide appropriate CSOC operations and services support to strategically position the infrastructure to defend against tomorrow's threats. Support threat response and mitigation actions and aid in undertaking forensic investigations where necessary. Collaborate with NGC CSOCs and InfoSec to ensure Sperry Marine's systems are secure and compliant.

Skills & Experience

The applicant must be able to deliver the majority of the requirements listed below:
  • Support the monitoring of relevant systems per authorised schedules.
  • Record, remedy or escalate faults where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other analysts to coordinate a multi-tiered approach to cyber threat mitigation, resulting in the denial of current and future adversary actions.
  • Support in network forensic duties, including host and network-based log analysis, correlation of network threat indicators and PCAP data, analytical triage and prioritisation of concurrent incidents, incident timeline generation, root cause analysis and remediation, and preparation of written reports.
  • Undertake regular vulnerability scans using tools such as Nessus.
  • Change/modify access to security and protection systems such as web proxies, mail gateways and network IPS to mitigate threats as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable management request.
  • Linux/Unix and Windows proficiency, including shell (bash, PowerShell, etc.) scripting.
  • Familiarity with current information security threats.
  • Experience in the analysis of network communication and a good foundation of cyber threat intelligence methodologies.
  • Demonstrated awareness of current host and network vulnerabilities and exploits, advanced computer network exploitation methodologies and tools.
