The Opportunity
Excellent opportunity for a Materials Manager (Senior Materials Controller) to play a pivotal role in an iconic flagship residential development. The scheme involves the construction of 1,100 residential apartments and penthouses over 12 individual RC frame tower blocks ranging from 7 storeys up to 28 storeys. Site based in Barking, East London.
The development will include extensive infrastructure and landscaping, commercial space, restaurants, a community centre and school, and several underground and overground car parks along with landscaped Greenland, roads and walkways – split over 4 large phases.
Phase 1 of the project has started and is currently undergoing RC frame superstructure coming out the ground; with phase 2 starting in July 2022; with phase 1 consisting of 240 units and phase 2 a further 300 units including a 28 storey tower.
This is a pivotal role for the development, where the successful Materials Manager will be working closely with the Project Director, Project Managers and Site Managers along with the commercial department to ensure the project runs smoothly, materials are on site and available based on build programme and lead times, and materials are easily accessible and monitored.
This position would be ideal a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager that doesn’t want the pressure of driving subcontractors or for someone in a Materials Controller role currently – or someone from a builders merchant background.

The Right Candidate
This position is opened to experienced Materials Controllers who are capable of managing a store room, ordering materials, and tracking the ins and outs of the yard; but is also opened to Assistant Site Managers, Foreman, and Supervisors with on-site management experience and materials management/storeman experience.
This is an important role on site, and the successful candidate must be able to display a clear understanding of building materials, paperwork and reporting process, and general management of a store and warehouse, ensuring the appropriate materials are in stock on site for the construction programme and deadlines.
