Role Overview & Responsibilities

Purpose of Role

To provide a range of conceptual design services to PDS clients. To successfully delivery design projects that meet the client’s brief and that achieve the required standards of quality within the timescales specified.

Key responsibilities

  • To develop engaging designs that display creative thinking and that successfully meet the client brief
  • To provide designs across a range of requirements and materials, including packaging design, brochures, advertising, POS, exhibitions, catalogues, signage, social media and digital assets, email, PowerPoint
  • To successfully interpret and apply brand guidelines for multiple clients and industry sectors
  • To deliver creative projects from concept to print ready artwork
  • To accompany senior designers in client meetings and calls
  • To assist in taking and interpreting client briefs
  • Where required to work effectively with third party providers, such as copywriters, in the delivery of client projects
  • To build effective working relationships with the agencypds team and other PDS departments.
  • To collaborate and work effectively as part of a team on client projects
  • To follow agencypds procedures and processes
  • To pro-actively keep abreast of design trends and best practice. To engage in agencypds’ “inspiration” meetings and actively contribute to the studio’s creative culture
  • To pro-actively advise the Studio Manager and Lead Creative on suggestions for change and improvements to procedures and creative practices
  • To advise the Studio Manager and Lead Creative on identifying training requirements to ensure the team remain up to date

Qualifications and Experience

  • Exceptional conceptual design skills required
  • Expert working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of other applications in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite preferential
  • An excellent working knowledge of the print process and print finishes
  • Experience with creating complex graphics
  • Experience demonstrating excellent typographical and layout skills
  • Proven experience with image manipulation
  • Experience demonstrating art-working skills including creation of print ready artwork
  • Previous experience of working in a studio environment preferred
  • High level of experience working on multiple projects, events and with various people
  • Experience needed with the process of briefing in jobs. Ability to gather relevant details, ask relevant questions which ultimately lead to the production of accurate quotes
  • Good communication skills; experience with talking directly to all levels of the organisation and to clients
  • Working knowledge of the Mailchimp email platform ideal
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects ideal
  • Photography skills preferred
