Role Overview & Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking proactive and self motivated individuals to join our high performing Res Life team.

The role demands flexible thinkers and problem solvers who can lead the coordination of the out of hours service, supervising a team of Res Life Assistants and delivering student events creating an outstanding student experience for those who live on campus. In addition to running events and activities the role is required to act at the primary point of contact for vulnerable students, concerned parents and colleagues. Ensuring effective handover and signposting to the University's support and wellbeing services and liaison with external agencies are crucial in this role to ensuring effective communication and the delivery of holistic student support. Forming part of a diverse Student Development Services directorate candidates are welcomed from a variety of professional backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for our Residential Support Coordinator will be to:

  • To support the Head of Residential Services by leading the provision of Res Life support during the evenings and overnight
  • Respond to a range of wellbeing and pastoral care queries using judgement and initiative to effectively and successfully resolve situations as they arise.
  • Over see the Res Life Assistants out of hours
  • To assess the level of risk and in serious incidents escalate to Senior On Call staff as required
  • To ensure effective support for complex welfare concerns, engaging with appropriate internal and external specialist services including security, emergency services, local mental health out of hour’s services and local hospitals.
  • To proactively engage with vulnerable students.
  • Work with colleagues across Student Support and Wellbeing to ensure that proactive and holistic support is provided.
  • Addressing student conduct concerns and assist students to make positive, well informed decisions.
  • To coordinate well-being events and activities that the Reslife team host.
  • Keep accurate up to date records and providing reports as required.
  • To contribute to the marketing and promotion of Res Life events and services.
