Experience / Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related subject area.Demonstrate excellent strategic capabilities, analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, and work organization.8-10 year’s experience in sales/business development in the food industry.Must be available to travel at least 50% of your work week.Strong communication and leadership abilities.Must be willing to relocate to the WNY area.Use of MS, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel / Spreadsheet functions.
Work Specifications – ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Business Development (BD) team at Steuben. As a Business Development Associate, you will play a pivotal role in aligning customer selection with Steuben's strategic objectives. Your responsibilities will include:Collaborating with the BD team to understand customer needs and ensure alignment with Steuben's strategy, including profitability analysis, financial considerations, and formulation targets.Quickly familiarizing yourself with Steuben's Product Commercialization process to facilitate efficient customer onboarding.Developing a comprehensive understanding of low acid aseptic processing from both operational and technical perspectives, particularly as it relates to customer formulation compatibility with Steuben's processing matrix.Participating in internal meetings with cross-functional teams, including Stage Gate reviews, to evaluate and advance customers through the business development pipeline.Assisting in follow-up activities related to Stage Gate steps, both internally and externally.Acting as an independent BD representative for specific customer interactions.Coordinating with the Accounting and Finance team to obtain trial costing and support initial pricing development.Serving as a liaison with customers to track forecasts and monthly production orders, and collaborating with planning and supply chain teams to optimize material, ingredient, and production scheduling.Engaging with internal and external warehousing teams to ensure the efficient handling of incoming materials and outgoing finished goods.Rapidly acquiring proficiency in Steuben's in-house ERP system for BD purposes.Gaining a general understanding of Steuben GNS's on-site ingredient production and collaborating with R&D personnel as needed for customer projects.If you are a motivated individual with a keen interest in business development and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.
