This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to kick start a career in Finance/Accounting within the growing aerospace/defence sector! As Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the business activities principally on Financial Control.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting accounts payable team in solving purchase ledger activities.

  • Assisting in the month end process and reconciliations to support management accounts.

  • Monitoring and reporting of Capital expenditures.

  • Monitoring and posting of Journals.

  • Ensuring project bookings and timesheet transaction monitoring and corrections.

  • Assisting with audit requests when required.

  • Assist with VAT returns.

  • Consolidation of data and numbers.

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with colleagues.

  • Ad hoc tasks as they arise.

Who would be the right fit?

Essential

  • Ability to assimilate and analyse numerical data and information.

  • Ability to communicate clearly to different levels and functions.

Desirable

  • Some prior use of excel is advantageous.

  • Ability to work autonomously and a keen team player, energetic self-starter with a proactive and challenging approach.

  • A can-do attitude with desire to follow through to completion.

  • Experience of working within a finance function and understanding of purchase ledger.

  • Knowledge of the French Language (beneficial but not required)

  • GCSE + A level equivalent or higher.

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
