Role Overview & Responsibilities

I’m looking for a Component Development Engineer on behalf of my client who are global automotive manufacturing company in the Peterborough area.

Initial 12-month rolling contract.

PAYE: £24.08 p/h - Umbrella £30.78 p/h

Hybrid model – 3 days per week onsite in Peterborough.

Mon-Thurs 08:30-16:30, Fri 08:30-16:00. Flexibility around start/finish times.

Company:
The company are a global automotive manufacturing company. They are internationally renowned for their quality and reliability. As part of the Research & Development Department you will carry out a variety of design and development functions to support new engine programs to tight deadlines.

The role:
Through this role, the successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to take part in, and have significant responsibility for, the design & development for engine components & systems.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Assume development responsibilities within a small, dedicated team to introduce core components onto our range of diesel engines.
  • Follow the validation plan, arranging supplier, bench and engine tests with the support of the validation lead.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues which arise from tests, using 8D methodology (establish containment actions, diagnose root cause, develop permanent corrective actions).
  • Plan and communicate progress within the team.

What is required:

  • Fundamental engineering knowledge; grounding in engineering theory
  • Ability to work on actual components in the real world i.e. practical application
  • Ability to interact with people and collaborate.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

Salary: £24.08-£30.78 per hour
