Role Overview & Responsibilities

Job Title: Junior Unreal Engine TA
Location: London-based studios. Travel overseas could be a requirement, based on the project.
Reports To: Show Supervisor (while on a show) + Tech Art Department Head (between shows)

Job Summary:

The Third Floor London is looking for a Junior Realtime Technical Artist to support new and active productions using TTF’s real-time pipeline tools. The ideal candidate will come with a minimum of 1-2 years industry experience, having worked in Unreal Engine to do lighting, materials, and FX work. They will work with our Creative and Technology teams to support the artistic utilization of game engine technology within Film, Television and VR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animate Lights, Materials and FX via Sequencer.
  • Work in collaboration with our Shot Creators to support the story by creating or adjusting Lighting, Materials and FX in Unreal Engine.
  • Work in collaboration with our Asset Builders to produce and support real-time-ready. environments, props, characters and FX.
  • Deliver artistically complex shots.
  • Help document, prototype, and improve the creative pipeline.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong creative eye.
  • Ability to receive and act upon creative feedback.
  • Work within a team towards a common goal and demonstrate a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Must be comfortable working with the key components of Unreal Engine 5 Interface (Content Browser, Material Editor, Sequencer, Niagara, etc).
  • Ability to modify FX assets with Niagara.
  • Optimizing assets within UE to perform on Mobile platforms

Desirable Skills:

  • AR/VR experience.
  • Experience with Version Control and Source Control Systems (e.g perforce, GitHub).
  • Have an interest in Photography & Film making.
  • Experience working with or creating Blueprints.
  • Ability to create FX from scratch with Niagara.
  • UK driver's license and ability to drive to major studios located close to London.
