Lead Dental Nurse

The role

It is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we move to a city centre state-of-the-art site (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) to deliver a new operating model in Summer 2023.

This is an excellent new role within the Bristol Dental School, as we look to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable dental nurse to lead on the day-to-day line management of the dental nurses and trainee dental nurses on their clinical placement. Proactively ensuring that staff, students and nurses follow safe working practices and guidance which underpins their training.

There will be opportunities for in house CPD and dental nurse post-qualifications, as and when required, to support post-graduate students in the future and evolving clinic need.

What will you be doing?

• You will be responsible for rostering the dental nurses across the clinical area to maximise efficiency and patient throughput, to support the training of trainee dental nurses and dental undergraduates.
• Work closely with students to monitor progress and provide guidance, support and encouragement when they are working chairside.
• Work closely with the senior dental nurse team and clinical governance manager by contributing to the updating of risk assessments, policies and procedures.
• Lead on staff and students briefings and inductions into the department, making recommendations for improvement by reviewing local rules and promoting good working practice
• As an experienced dental professional, you will provide an advanced range of chairside duties and high quality support to a wide range of patients.

• You are a well organised, enthusiastic, and motivated individual who can manage and prioritise their workload and respond to changing priorities in a busy clinical environment.
• Previous leadership experience and supervision of a clinical dental nurse team.
• The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and able to communicate within the wider team effectively.
• Applicants must be fully qualified and registered with the General Dental Council.
• Salary Range – £28,929 (£15.90 per hour) to £32,411 (£17.81 per hour) based on 35 hours per week- depending on experience
