Role Overview & Responsibilities

The role

Performing in vitro and in vivo work analysing the molecular biology of kidney cells. This post will have a particular focus on cellular glycocalyx biology.

What will you be doing?

You will be involved in tissue culture work with glomerular endothelial cells and podocytes, utilising an array of in vitro techniques including immunofluorescence, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, ELISA construction and genetic manipulation of cell lines (viral over expression and knockdown with shRNA). Mouse models of kidney disease will also be studied.

You should apply if

  • You possess or have submitted your PhD
  • You have strong knowledge of renal biology and disease and experience of working on kidney models
  • You are able to manage competing demands and priorities, sometimes to tight deadlines
  • You have expertise in culturing human and mouse glomerular cell lines
  • You have knowledge in good laboratory practice (documentation and storage of data, sample storage, documentation of sample flow)

Contract type: Fixed Term for 4 months until 31/08/2023

Work pattern: Full time

Grade: Grade I / Pathway 2

Salary: £36,333 – £40,745 per annum

School/Unit: Bristol Medical School

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week / 1 FTE
