The University of Sunderland is internationally known for quality teaching, 'world-leading' research and has a reputation for producing work-ready graduates. Our School of Engineering is part of the Faculty of Technology and are looking to expand their capabilities in teaching and research in various areas within the discipline. We are looking to recruit candidates who can contribute to the current Engineering provision, particularly in the areas of:

  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Engineering Technologies
  • Mechatronics
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Sustainability

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their experience in an industrial or applied research context and someone who can develop and deliver our Engineering programmes and undertake research in related topics to engineering - https://www.sunderland.ac.uk/study/engineering/

The University is investing circa £4.5 million over three years in the faculty to enhance labs, facilities, teaching, research and the student experience. As a result, this is an exciting time to be joining Engineering.

For Lecturer, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Enrolled on a PhD and near completion.
  • Experience of teaching and assessment in Engineering Environments.
  • A track record of applying for research grants and publishing research outputs.

For Senior Lecturer, the ideal candidate will have (in addition to those attributes listed for lecturer):

  • A PhD in Engineering or related discipline or extensive equivalent experience.
  • Strong practical experience in Engineering environments, ideally within an applied research context or equivalent.
  • Publications record in an area of expertise
  • Evidence of success in obtaining research grants
  • Evidence of experience in academic leadership
